I did go to other blogs when i wasn't sure of what something was or what we were supposed to write on. I found that alot of people had similar views and used similar sites that i have heard of or used myself. A lot of people i noticed also had some great ideas of how to bring certain technology and non technolgy and use it in the classroom that i had never thought of. I love seeing how other people think about things and seeing other peoples ideas especially for elementary school kids because then it gives me good suggestions in a way for the future.

I took a microcomputer class in which i learned almost all of the microsoft programs but would like to get some more knowledge on Access for my personal life. I feel it would be a great program to use but i was never porperly taught how to use it. Also I love to change my photos and make creations of the, so i would like to learn more about photoshop or other types of photo editors and how i can make more creations and edit photos more. One more thing i think would b e good to learn about and start to use is podcast i think it could be a great tool for many things and very good for teaching.

I feel i need to take some more classes and start using the programs such as powerpoint and podcast and other things to further my knowledge so that i can incorporate it into my classroom. I feel powerpoint would be the best for my classroom of younger kids and i am sure there are many things one can do to make the slides "come to life" persay. I know i have learned so much from just the few classes i have taken and then previous knowledge but i know there is so much more to learn and many more classes i can take to help to incorporate all these technologies into my teaching career. I do think this was a great class though and it really helped my knowledge of technology grow.

A website that I always used in school and i feel would be great for students is http://www.factmonster.com/ I used it for help when studying, for research, and also when i was helping a teacher in a class for highschool credit. I found some fun math and history and other subject games which can involve all of the students. It is also a great way to study while having fun. I used to love going to this website when i was younger and i would love to use it as a teacher for my classes and subjects.

Another website that i heard of from the teacher i helped in highschool was http://www.suelebeau.com/freetools.htm
She had used to to make some easy quizes as grade boosters and also for ideas for fun but educational games for the students. She also used it or homework assignments when necessary. It is a simple way of finding good work for students but also fun stuff for them to learn from. There are a million different tools to chose from for teachers from making quizzes to seting up an email. This would defiently be a tool i would use myself to help with making up questions for quizes and even homework assignments.

My goal is to teach second grade and i know as a teacher i can use excel for many things. But i am not quite sure how i would incorporate it into the class with the students. I may be able to use it for higher grade levels when it comes to mean, median, and mode or adding numbers up, specifically prices. It would also take a lot of time to teach to students, because I know for me the first time i was taught excel i had no idea what i was doing. Also since it isnt something used very often until you get more into budgeting and stuff along those lines you tend to forget how to work Excel, which means you have to learn again.

Like almost everyone else I chose jeopardy for my powerpoint 2 homework. I chose to do math for my game, which included addition, subtraction, time, money and a little bit of algebra using solve for N. I used a simple colored backgroud so it would nto distract from the game itself. At the end of every slide that had an answer their was a link to return to the main or 1st slide which was were the students chose what category or the point range they wanted. I chose points instead of 200 and 100's because which ever team had the most points at the end would win a prize. The points were 1-5.

Peripherals can be used for many things in the classroom. Printers for printing handouts for the students or notes. Also other devices like microphones may be of good use to some teachers depending on the grade level. Mostly for higher grade levels because of the fact that some collge classes can be anywhere from 30 studnts to 500. Also other things like movies would be great for me to use in my second grade class. I can use them for history or geography, reading and maybe even science. There are many ways i will use peripherals in my classroom.

I learned how to link slides so that way i could make the jeopardy game and also in order to just be able to click the next button to move to the next or beginning slide. This was very useful and one technique that i had never learned when doing excel.

I feel presentation software like powerpoint is a great thing to use in the classroom especially for certain subjects. I will be teaching a second grade class, and they love movies and pictures. So i will be using powerpoint a lot for presentation of new information with math reading and even english. I can make games to go with all subjects. The only issue with presentation software would be for the people who don't do well with visual learning and are more audio and hands on. So i will hopefully be able to figure something out to incorportate all styles.

I plan to make short powerpoints with litte but thurough information. I feel if you put too much on one slide and too many slides the students will get bored and fall asleep or stop paying attention. I will use fun creative pictures, and lots of sounds to keep the kids interested. With certain subjects you could include youtube videos or movie clips to explain or further emphasize definitions or subjects. I feel also the colors of the backgrounds and the text size and style are very important to attract the students but not distract from the meaning of the presentation andthe information presented.

I think technology is a great tool for the classroom and also outside of school but I feel technology is growing way too fast. Students not only have cell phones which have texting, but now phones are having internet and some even have games and special apps. This can take away the focus on learning if the students are always on their phones. I used to always be texting in class but I did have a few teachers that used to take my phone away if they saw it out and they really watched. I hated them at the time for it but I thank them now because the classes i didnt do as well in were the classes with teachers that didn't care about phones. Also even though schools block certain websites like facebook and myspace, when students are allowed on computers or to go the the computer lab to do research or papers a lot of the time they are playing games and getting off task. I feel that internet is a great resource but has become just a fun source and is no longer being used for the right things especially in schools. But as much and the internet and other technologies is great in classes i still plan on having some old fashioned stuff like books and handwirtten stuff. I feel that the only way to keep students on their toes and keep them on task is to have a mixture of both. When they are at school they need to be learning not playing games or on their phone.

I really do not like Web 2.0, nor have i really ever used it. It doesn't appeal to me in an way. I do not think i would use it at all as a teacher since i plan on teaching only pre-k through 3 grade. I feel it may be of better use to maybe a highschool or college class when doing big projects or having web based classes.

In some of my classes teachers have told us not to use wikipedia as a source and some really did not mind. I feel it is a great source for some information although some of the information on the site may not fully accurate or true. I am not too sure if i would use Wikipedia for my students, i feel they may learn a lot from the sight, but it may not be the top site to use for reasearch or something of that sort.

I have always known how to use powerpoint and use it quite often. I did learn some new stuff that can be very useful. But this was a good refresher course for me. I had learned a while back how to do custom animations, but i had forgotten how to do them and where to go. So it was a nice refresher course also to help me remember what to use and where to go. I know I will use powerpoint very often as a teacher so it was very good to learn more good ways to make powerpoints more fun and exciting.

The internet can be great use for research but can also be very misleading depending on where the sources come from and what is being searched for. Sites like google scholar and online college libraries are great places to find tons of information on whatever is being researched but with the satisfaction of "school approved" articles. Yes the internet is great for research but not when it is being used illegaly. For example when kids do papers they tend to reasearch information and just copy and paste, they dont put their own thoughts and ideas into they just use somebody elses.

The internet is a great place to get extra help in classes. There are so many sites out their that have multiple ways of doing math or science. You can find youtube videos on almost anything now. I use the internet often to get help because i just do not understand what a teacher is lecturing about in math or because i am just horrible with history. The internet is good for more that just book reports and facebook, it is so much more!

I plan on teaching second grade which may be an issue with the way kids are being raised today. There will need to be locks on the internet that limit them to certain educational sites if there is internet at all. I do not plan to use internet unless I am in a computer lab doing something as a group.

In chapter seven it talks about outlines and idea maps. I feel these are great ways to keep things organized for yourself and in the classroom. I am not the most organized person when it comes to my own stuff but i usually am when other people are involved. Inspiration would be a great way to map stuff out with pictures so one can visually see what my be being taught.

Having the skills to do outlines and creat idea maps are very good in the educational and real world. I defientely would encourage my students to do outlines with certain lessons as a way to improve on these skills.

I have never used inspirtaion before but i have done maps where you build off of one main idea. After using it to creat a recipe outline i saw how useful it really is for things other than family trees. It is a great way to visualy see what you are working with.
